The Grown Up Romper

Kiss your own fingertips
and hug your own curves.
You are made of waves and honey
and spicy peppers when it is necessary.
You are a goddess,
I hope you haven’t forgotten.
–Emery Allen

I really like that quote and I thought it was too good not to share on a day like today. I may be passionate about fashion, but I’m still a person with so many other interests and as well as insecurities. As a reader of fashion blogs, I tend to get frustrated and left feeling like I don’t really know who bloggers are, just where they shop.. To be very honest that is why I stopped reading fashion magazines. Besides the clothing being outlandish in price, I found that I could not relate to the models used- not only because of their insanely thin size, but because of their persona. They seemed to live such glamourous and lavish lifestyles. Images can be misleading though. Regardless of how someone looks or what their background is, we all have similar struggles. Take a moment and stop comparing yourself to others and love yourself. Embrace your flaws, because they make you unique and human. Also, try to think of your worth not in terms of how you look, but how you treat people. To do this we need to take small steps towards appreciating ourselves and also those around us. So next time you go to compliment someone on their outfit, stop and think about something special you can say about their character that you truly admire.

Check out this fantastic Ted Talk on body image!

Style Tip: Rompers are not only for playdates, but for all occasions. I wore this outfit the other day to class, but I also wore it once again on Saturday night. Gotta love an outfit for all occasions! To look less childlike, go for a romper that is solid print. I would also suggest pairing it with a pair of booties a leather jacket.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I pray for safe travels and that we can truly reflect on what we are thankful for this holiday season. We tend to think about our friends and family that we are thankful for (which is wonderful), but what aspects of yourself are you thankful for?
