“Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everybody I’ve ever known.” – Chuck Palahniuk

That has always been and always will be my favorite quote. I was going to write a post about how to style a kimono/define personal style, but I kept deleting everything I had written over and over again. I kept finding what I had wrote to be trite. I find the way people talk about personal style tends to be in black-and-white terms and somewhat stagnant. What does “boho-chic” or “edgy” really mean? Does that mean a person is confined to wearing only maxi dresses, messy (yet somehow perfect) hair, and a floppy hat everyday? If I have any fashion authority from co-authoring this blog, it is that everyday is a new day and that what you identified strongly with last year, yesterday, or earlier this morning, may not be what you feel fits you at this current moment. Heck, if I look back to when I started this blog and how my personal style has evolved, it’s hard not to gasp (or shutter). Having this blog has been an incredible source of confidence and inspiration. It has given me the opportunity to try new looks and explore my personal boundaries with my exterior looks. Another factor that has been monumental has been sharing my closest with my exchange students sisters. It wasn’t just sharing a closet, but sharing a space with Yui and Nastya that helped to open my eyes and my heart to new perspectives. I am who I am today because of the many friendships I’ve had and for the impact these people have had on me. My style cannot be described in a catch phrase because it is a blend of everything I’ve ever been inspired by or felt a deep connection to. I hope this outfit recipe inspires you, but know that however you choose to style a kimono, you are doing it right.

LOVE,

Blog Signature Hannah
