What we put into our bodies has a direct impact on how we look and feel. For instance, we know that the foods that we eat and the more water we drink the healthier, clearer our skin will be. More than just the physical though, our diet impacts our overall mood and wellbeing. These last few months, I’ve focused on improving my mental and physical health by increasing my H20 intake and eating healthier. For me, eating healthier never means being restrictive, but rather consuming high quantities of nutrient-rich vegetables and lean proteins. Of course, I still eat foods that are not “clean,” but as a rule of thumb, I try to have it where most of my meals are.
I’ve been on the search for good local restaurants that offer healthy options and it was just recently that I stumbled across LB Kitchen, which offers both breakfast and lunch located in Portland’s End End. They focus on clean, whole foods that aim to make you feel good. No, but honestly they utilize amazing ingredients that have true healing properties in each of their menu items. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the Blue Chai. Made with blue spirulina, which assists the body in flushing out toxins, it’s not only good for you, but it looks so cool. (Bonus points it matches my favorite Nike sneakers).
Although they do not currently offer dine-in, they do have an outdoor patio that feels reminiscent of a hip cafe somewhere like Los Angeles. With a colorful mural and complementing neon chairs and tables, it’s the perfect spot to grab coffee with a friend or fuel up with a healthy meal. Speaking of, I recently enjoyed their new Summer Keto Bowl. Made with grilled and chilled Faroe Island salmon, sesame tamari raw kale, broccoli, avocado, and a beet pickled egg, it’s jam-packed with antioxidants.
Be sure to follow them on Instagram!
