3 Ways to Wear a Tube Top

The summer season is well underway and to combat the rising temps the clothing we wear has to embody that perfect combination of stylish and lightweight, yet also functional. One style ingredient we can’t live without in our summer wardrobe is the shoulder-baring essential: the tube top. Now hear us out, you may instantly associate the bandeau with flashbacks to the 90’s, but nowadays designers are using tube tops as layering devices and they can even be worked into office-appropriate outfits. Today on the blog we’re showing you how to wear the tube top three different ways.

This first outfit recipe is on the minimalist side. To wear the tube top solo you can simply pair the solid black top with high-waisted jeans and toss on some mules. Another option is to throw over a lightweight cardigan to be able to transition the outfit to night for when the air is cooler.

As a side note, I know some ladies may feel apprehensive about wearing a top that shows your midriff area. The key is to pair your tube top with high waisted bottoms. Know that it takes time to feel confident and comfortable with some skin showing, but realize that no body is perfect and embrace the imperfection. For me, it wasn’t until this year that I was open to the tube top concept because I was more insecure about my curvier tummy. What needed to change was simply my mindset – so what if I don’t have 6-pack abs?  I feel healthy and that’s all that matters.

Speaking of high waisted and a concealed midriff, these super-high-waisted loose-leg pants are a great way to style a tube top. They transform a more minimalist piece to become instantly nautical in feel. Plus with a denim jacket thrown over, they make the outfit all at once work appropriate and great for going to happy hour. Toss on some oversized shades and a thick wedge and you instantly elevate the entire look.

The final outfit recipe is one with a bit more edge. Insert the biker short and you channel a streetwear vibe. What’s great about such a look is you can wear the duo dressed down with a pair of sneakers or you can dress it up with a blazer and heels. With either outfit direction, a pair of hoop earrings and 1990s Retro Vintage Cat Eye Sunglasses make for the perfect accessories.
