A powerful tool of self-care and a way to feel effortlessly beautiful is simply taking a bath. In spiritual practices all over the world, bath rituals serve as a form of rebirth and heal almost any spiritual, emotional, mental, or physical illness. As we bathe, we allow ourselves to take a moment to reflect, set intention, and wash away old habits and patterns that no longer serve our highest good, all while leaving our skin to feel youthful and smooth.
There are so many amazing bath and beauty products on the market these days, but one company I continue to choose over and over again is Plant Makeup. I stumbled across this 100% plant-based makeup and skincare line a few years ago and recently was gifted products from their Rainbow Flower Collection. As you can probably guess, many of these items have worked their way into my bath time ritual.
Salt baths are great for detoxification, balancing pH, easing muscle tension and soreness, stimulating circulation, combating water retention and bloat and so much more. When I draw a hot bath I like to add two tablespoons of Rainbow Flower Bathing Salts, which instantly make the bathroom fill with an amazing lavender, rose scent. I then like to line the bathtub with items that represent beauty like rose quartz crystal, candles, and flowers to create a sacred space.
I tend to settle in to my bath ritual by sipping a glass of red wine and reading a book. Once my skin adapts to the hot water and my senses are renewed by the aromatherapy of the bath salts and essential oils, I will then shift to a mediation or intention setting practice. I’ll start by closing my eyes and take a moment to ask myself if there are any outdated, untrue, or unkind beliefs I’ve held about myself – albeit my physical appearance or how I view my inner person. It’s important during this exercise to not judge yourself for any negative emotions you may suffer, but to acknowledge them and show yourself grace as you chose to mindfully surrender these thoughts.
Once my skin is wrinkled like a prune and I feel all my stress and inner tension has melted away I’ll end my bath ritual with a self-love massage using the Beach Rose Skin Repair Serum and spritz my body with the Floral Calm Body Mist to hydrate my skin one last time. After drying off, I like to complete the self-care ritual by lighting a piece of white sage and smudge it around my entire body to rid myself of negative lingering energy and clear myself fully.
