The days have seemed to blur and somehow it’s already October. The pandemic isn’t over, so it might feel pointless to even bother getting dressed in “real” clothes right now, however, we know that clothing can have a profound impact on our overall mood. Now more than ever it’s important to utilize style and dressing as a tool to empower and improve our productivity. I don’t know about you, but floral print has always signified life and revitalization to me.
While the thought of flowers might bring to mind the fresh blooms of May and June, botanical prints of marigold and tropical flora have a certain charm that feels especially magical when the colder weather hits. Time is obviously a construct because we’ve somehow almost made it through summer. You can (and should) keep your wardrobe blooming well into fall and winter. Keep scrolling to see how I’ve styled myself and my photographer friend Tracy in fall-inspired floral looks exclusively from Anthropologie.
To complement our flower power outfits we shot these looks at my dear friend Stephanie’s farm called Farm To Table Kids located in beautiful Northern Yarmouth. Lucky for us, her greenhouse made for the perfect backdrop and fresh-picked dahlias were excellent props.
Fall florals pair perfectly with chunky cardigans, suede boots, and accessories like wide-brimmed hats and straw bags. For those warmer fall days, a lightweight ruffled jumpsuit is a feminine classic. Simply toss on an oversized denim jacket to complete the look.
Perhaps most overlooked as far as flower-inspired wardrobe pieces go, you can’t go wrong with floral print pants. If you find this to be an especially bold look be sure to offset your bottoms with a simple top. As shown here Tracy is wearing a fun rancher hat to complement the color of the printed pants.
An eye-catching floral midi dress works as well as it does in spring/summer as it does in fall/winter. It’s all about how you style it. Simply wear it on its own with open-toed booties and a pop of matching lip color and as it gets colder toss on a black leather jacket.
Lastly, a floral wrap dress is ideal for your fall wardrobe. It’s chic and looks great with autumn accessories like a lieutenant hat and heels. A romantic maxi dress like this is sure to turn heads. Swap out the strappy heels for an over-the-leg boot as soon as the first frost hits.
If you loved seeing my fall floral looks and want to learn how you can incorporate more prints in your wardrobe I’m now partnering with Anthropologie to offer mini personal styling sessions inside their Portland store. You can book a session with me by emailing hannah@thefashioncookbookbook.com.
