Tis’ the season for a little extra sparkle! Although there is not the same need to dress up for festive social gatherings this year, that doesn’t have to stop us from accessorizing at home or stocking our wardrobes with beautiful pieces for the future. With the holiday season well underway, I am making it a point to support only locally owned small businesses this year. As an image consultant shopping is a big part of my job, but more than ever before I understand the impact my dollar has on the local level. In this current economic climate, it is the small businesses that have been hit the hardest.
Shopping at a small business isn’t just about buying a product. On a larger level, you are making a difference for the small business owner, their employees, and families, and for your community. I get so many questions from clients asking for recommendations on local fashion and beauty lines and this year I’m beyond excited to share that I’ve partnered with one of my favorite jewelry designers to curate a holiday collection of my favorite everyday capsule pieces.
Emma Jane is a Portland-based jewelry company that focuses on high-quality timeless designs at a great value. Personally, I fell in love with her gold pieces and love even more that they do not break the bank. In addition to supporting her incredible products, Emma’s mission to make fashion accessible is a mission near and dear to my own heart. Today on the blog, with the help of some of my favorite foods and bubbly I’m eager to showcase her pieces that I feel would make for wonderful Christmas gifts.
Jewelry, as we know, is one of the easiest places to start when accessorizing an outfit. It’s essential to own a great pair of earrings, a necklace, a bracelet, and rings. In the case of Emma Jane, her minimalist designs make it so you can wear the pieces with any outfit. For instance, the Mya Necklace is not only beautiful and delicate made of 14 karat gold filled, but it’s y-shape can help elongate your neckline (which is a great visual trick if you have broad shoulders). It’s the perfect necklace for your holiday dress or a deep-cut blouse.
When and why did you start Emma Jane?
I started creating my own jewelry by taking apart pieces and putting them together to create the design and look that I loved. I wanted just the right piece for certain looks and I couldn’t find that in stores. It started out as a hobby and people started asking where I got my jewelry so I knew I wanted to share that with other women. I decided to go in headfirst and really go for it. I quit my day job and in the summer of 2019, Emma Jane Jewelry was born.
What advice do you have for other women looking to follow their entrepreneurial dreams?
Don’t be afraid of taking risks and chances. There are a lot of unknowns while owning a small business and that can be scary, but through all the ups and downs those risks will pay off. You’ll never know unless you try it!
How do you stay inspired?
While designing or curating pieces to add to my collection I always think, how will this piece make me feel? I like to wear my jewelry before I launch it. I want to make sure this is something that I love and something I want other women to have and experience! When I put on an Emma Jane piece I want to feel confident and this is exactly what I aim for when adding new pieces.
What do you hope women take away from wearing your pieces?
Wearing Emma Jane Jewelry is more than just an accessory, but an experience. I want women to wear pieces that complement their own style while feeling empowered and confident. I love sharing my passion for jewelry and seeing how putting on that certain pair of earrings makes you feel.
In terms of earrings, I’ve always been partial to something that dangles. Her Mini Arc Threaders and Mini Horseshoe Earrings are sleek and streamlined, perfect for everyday use. While the Chandelier Drop Earrings are the statement piece great for adding a touch of glam to your outfit.
Lastly, you can’t forget about your hand. Her Trio Ring Set is the ideal stackable ring set.
The Hayden Necklace and Mya Bracelet are the necklace and bracelet combo I wear almost every day. They go with every one of my outfits and make it so I feel put together always. With only a week before Christmas, you give the gift of effortless style to your loved one by purchasing any one of these Emma Jane pieces.
