Summer Beach Picnic With H&M

For many, Labor Day is best spent seaside soaking up the last days of summer, eating and drinking merrily. To celebrate the long weekend this year and to say farewell to our favorite season we teamed up with H&M and our friend Achieng to host a summer beach picnic. We wanted to take full advantage of the ability to dine in the sand one last time and so we opted for durable home goods that provided a comfortable, yet elevated dining experience. Enter H&M’s new home collection that not only pulls from coastal-inspirations but also made us feel transported to a tropical shore.

Although you can never go wrong with a simple charcuterie board and a cheap bottle of wine for a summer dinner on the beach, it’s amazing how luxurious a nice bottle of prosecco and a prepared seafood dinner can be. With just a tad more effort on your part, it can feel like you’re dining at a resort, even if in reality you’re in your backyard or at the local beach.

Our must-have summer entertaining tools:

For our setup, we relied on wood serving trays to keep the food in place and opted for coastal-inspired dining accents such as woven round placemats, a shell-shaped stoneware serving dish, and blue candle holders reminiscent of sea glass to keep to our summer beach picnic theme.

Seaside dinner:

Instead of a classic lobster bake, we suggest wowing your friends with a fresh take on the ‘surf and turf’ concept by serving salty Maine steamers with spicy chorizo and sweet cherry tomatoes. Not only is the meal delicious, but you can prepare it ahead of time and bring the large pot with you to the beach to serve.

It wouldn’t be a summer goodbye without something to cheers to! We paired a refreshing glass of crisp La Marca prosecco to go with our seafood dinner. Thanks to the beautiful weather, flavorful dinner, and great company, our moods were as bubbly as the glass in our hands.
