How to Attract More Positive Energy in Your Life

DSC_0055Your feelings can be a tricky thing. As of late, I’ve felt a lot of negative feelings and in turn, my brain has processed these thoughts as my reality. According to the Law of Attraction, by focusing on positive or negative thoughts a person can, therefore, bring positive or negative experiences into their life. How does one truly attract more positive energy? How can you change your thoughts to be more positive and feel more positive energy? The answer is unconditional love. However, there are some simple things you can do daily to become a happier version of yourself…DSC_0013


Not only does the sun provide us with much-needed vitamin D, but it also helps to stabilize our mood. Try to take a walk during your lunch break or even simply open your window and let the natural light pour through.


Flowers and herbs have powerful mood-lifting benefits. Needing to de-stress? Try lavender essential oil for it has a calming effect on the mind. Other sets of my favorite scents include orange and bergamot for they can help to energize and lift your spirit.


Physical activity releases endorphins that can help with stress relief. It doesn’t have to be an hour on the treadmill, it could be anything that you find joy in such as, dancing or playing a sport.

Drink more water

Hydration is so important to the health of your body and spirit. Spending time around water can also help to clear your mind and attract positive energy.


Show gratitude

Keep a journal and fill it with positive things that you are grateful for. An attitude of gratitude is the key to abundance.


Now is the perfect time to de-clutter, whether it be at home or work. A simple clean out and sorting through can help to boost your energy and feel like you are in more control of your life.


Eat your greens

Connect with Mother Nature. Vegetables contain more life energy than processed foods and can help you to vibrate at a higher frequency.


Write out a list, create a mood board, do whatever it is you need to do to help you plan out what it is you to want to put your energy towards. Your imagination is such a powerful thing. Let it help you to make clear to the universe what it is you want to access in this lifetime. The possibilities are endless- all you need to do is think it and set your intentions.

Coffee Talk: Healing Starts From Within

coffeetalkIt’s no secret that I’ve been exploring issues of self and finding ways to live a truly purposeful life. That being said the journey has not always been an easy one and more recently it has felt as though I’ve had more bumps along the road than successes. As someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression over the years, I’ve explored many ways to find inner peace, whether that be through my relationship with God, becoming more spiritual, speaking to a therapist, taking medication, and even through self-care. Through everything though I’ve found that at the core it is your diet, lifestyle, and your relationship with your own self that has the greatest impact on your ability to heal yourself.simplicity2foragemarketforagemarket3You are what you eat.

The things that we eat can either be immensely supportive to our bodies or they can completely derail them. A diet that consists mainly of fresh and organic fruits and vegetables, raw or sprouted seeds and nuts and gluten-free grains strengthen and purify our systems, whereas sugar and grains lead to digestion and immune issues (and so much more). It’s important to remember that the right food can be medicine for your body.

Lately, I’ve been working hard to eat more plant-based and shop locally as much as possible. Not only is it important to buy organic so that you are not getting pesticides in your food, but it is also important to be conscious of where your food is coming from (although it’s not always an option depending on your situation.) I’ve been trying to forgo stopping at Starbucks to instead support local businesses, such as going to Forage Market- a wood-fired bakery and market located in the heart of my town.coffeesimplicitycoffeecoffeeTake care of your body, and it will take care of you.

For most of us when we get busy the first thing to let go of is our workout regime, that, and ultimately taking care of our body altogether. When we feel pulled in different directions the last thing we prioritize is ourselves. Trust me I’m the biggest culprit of this. However, I’m learning that the body will stay strongest when it is not continually in fight-or-flight mode. Chronic stress exhausts our body and ultimately leaves us worse off, so embracing activities like meditation, exercise, and time in nature will profoundly calm us and put us into an optimal space for healing. Start with just five minutes a day here or there. Studies show that feeling calmer will also improve your relationships, your perspective, and your emotional intelligence.foragemarket5 foragemarket4fryebootsYou are what you think.

What’s crazy and surreal to me is how much our own minds are what can hold us back the most. Lately I’ve been experiencing more negative emotional and mental patterns, and as a result, I’ve been held captive to feeling low and hopeless. With the help of loved ones and spiritual and therapeutic exercises, I’m working to clear these patterns and experience more happiness. I’ve discovered that yoga and meditation are great ways to help develop a more gentle approach to your own self. Starting your day with even a simple mantra can also be so incredibly helpful.

What it comes down to is that you alone have the ability to make your body and thoughts stronger, and therefore your life experience a more positive one.foragemarket2simpleWhat are some ways you’ve experienced self-healing? Shop Local: Katie Manzella of Sweatheory

Recently my father saw a photo I posted to Facebook of a new moon ritual with crystals and he inquired about what I was getting into. I don’t blame him for being curious for he, along with many people are unfamiliar, if not hesitant of incorporating New Age practices into their routine. My response to him was simple: “I’m merely opening myself up to accepting help from all sources.”

Crystal healing stems from the concept of utilizing crystals as a tool to help you become more grounded and connected to the earth. Crystals can be used to help anyone who wants to heal through natural means. Each crystal has different energies and properties to help bring you whatever you are looking for at that given moment. I recently had the opportunity to meet with Katie Manzella of Sweatheory for a crystal and reiki healing, as well as an hour-long Infrared Sauna session.

I cannot even begin to describe how wonderful the experience was! After a very stressful week at work and with so much going on with me personally, the session helped me to feel both grounded and centered. Katie has such a positive and kind spirit, so I felt completely at ease around her. She has such a loving energy that she is one of those people you feel you have known for years, even upon just meeting her. Life in the Raw

It is with great excitement that we introduce you to Cheryl Horton, a dear friend of ours, who owns her own cooking company called Life in the Raw. Late this past Summer, we met up with Cheryl in her kitchen to learn more about eating raw and also how to better maintain a healthy lifestyle. Food is one of the most important aspects of maintaining our health and it is vital that we nourish our bodies with the proper nutrients. Cheryl graciously showed us how it is possible to incorporate eating raw into our hectic lifestyles.

It’s about sharing ideas, health, and food nutrient information, and making the process of eating raw easy and doable. I strive to let people know that they are in control of their food and their health.

What do you have to say to people who are hesitant about eating raw? Typically people are hesitant due to a lack of information or preconceived notions. And for many the thought of fitting this into their lives and their family’s lives seems too much. I understand that! However, the benefits outweigh any time or effort put into eating in this health saving manner. I would say to them give me one day, one week, one month and I’ll show you how easy this is and how much better you will feel! Whether people add one raw meal a day to their lifestyles or go all the way like me, I promise they will see the difference in improved health, energy, skin, mental wellness and even weight loss.

Creamy Corn Chowder Recipe

1.5 cups organic corn (fresh or frozen)

1 red bell pepper

1 large zucchini

1 heaping tsp garlic powder

1 heaping tsp onion powder

a dash of nutmeg

a dash of cayenne

sea salt and fresh cracked pepper to taste

1/2 cup water

1-2 avocado (diced)

handful cherry tomatoes

Directions: In a Vita-miz (or blender) add corn, water, red bell pepper, zucchini, salt, pepper, nutmeg, cayenne, onion, and garlic powder on high until creamy. Garnish with fresh avocado slices and cherry tomatoes.

After dozens of diagnoses and many more scary possibilities I knew, I had to do something for myself. All the meds were making me sicker and killing my body from the inside out. My biggest discovery was Lyme Disease along with 3 tick borne co-infections. At the time of diagnosis, I was bedridden and could barely function. Today I am up and around and enjoying life with my family. I have a ways to go but I now know that this raw lifestyle will carry me forward for many years to come and from that I have been given the gift of sharing this information with others to help them heal themselves as well.rawsliderrawcornchowderWhat do you want people to know about eating raw? That eating raw is easy, simple and incredibly flavorful! Chocolate Cheesecake Recipe

For the crust:

2 cup raw pecans

2 tablespoons coconut oil

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/4 cup pure maple syrup

1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt

For the filling:

2 cups raw cashews

1 cup peeled & diced zucchini

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

1/4 cup coconut oil, melted

Directions: Prepare the crust by placing the pecans in a food processor and grind them into a fine meal. Add in the rest of the crust ingredients and process until well combined. Line the bottom of an 8-inch pan with plastic wrap or parchment paper, then press the crust evenly into the bottom of the pan. Place the pan in the freezer to set, while you prepare the filling. In a food processor, process the cashews until they are a fine powder. Add in the zucchini, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, melted coconut oil, and sea salt, and blend again until a smooth and creamy batter is formed. Pour the filling into the frozen pie crust and allow to set for 8 hours or overnight.
