Business Chic: Color Edition

October 24, 2014

Hello lovelies,

TGIF! Today I want to share some business chic styling tips. I specifically want to prove that you can indeed incorporate bright colors in the workplace, and yet still look professional. Although the color and cut of a shirt like the one I’m wearing isn’t appropriate for all industries, it can fit for many outfit occasions, such as cocktails with the ladies or a company event on the weekend. In fact wearing a pop of color or pairing things unexpectedly can work in your favor. I got so many compliments on this shirt when I wore this outfit the other week. This outfit is slightly less professional because of the length of the skirt and style of the heels, but could easily be adjusted to fit an office setting.

Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

Style tips:

1. Pair a bright color or printed top with a plain bottom (such as solid black)

2. Match your pop of color piece with your bag.

3. Never be too afraid to be stand out, so long as it is tasteful.

We wish we could give all of you a macaron and a hug for all of your support throughout this journey. It means the world to us to have such amazing readers and we wish all of you could have been a part of our celebration – as we launch our brand new site and much anticipated business venture! It is with great joy that we could share the spotlight for our opening blog post on the new site with some of our dear friends. There is really no way we could have done this without the support of our friends and family. Not only have they been there to be our photographers, but they also have offered invaluable feedback on how we can make The Fashion Cookbook a unique fashion destination that represents all kinds of people and is a source of empowerment in an industry that can often leave people feeling defeated.

We really cannot began to describe all that we are grateful for. We strongly believe God has bigger plans for us and find that we are beyond blessed. The Fashion Cookbook began as a personal fashion blog, but there has always been so much potential to be tapped into. This is an extremely exciting time in our lives and we are so happy to be able to share this moment in time with you all. If this is your first time visiting us welcome, and if not and you have seen us grow please know how much we truly appreciate you. Just wait you have seen nothing yet!

Workaholic Wardrobe

July 31, 2014

I’ve been up all night, tryna get that rich. I’ve been work, work, work, work, working on my sh*tttttttt.
I have to say this summer Iggy Azalea has been a must every time I’m in the car or running at the track. As cliche as it is to say I connect with her lyrics about perseverance and I’m drawn to her boldness as a strong female in her industry. I especially relate to the song “Work.” Did you know that adults spend 1/3 of their life working?! It makes you think am I happy for a how I’ve spent a third of my life? It’s natural to get into a routine and for most in some sort of a rut doing the same thing everyday and having to deal with co-workers and long hours doing something you hate. If I’ve learned anything this summer its that its better to work towards a goal then to work for money. Another thing, in fact maybe the most important thing I’ve learned is that good things come to you if you give it your all.

Okay, enough of my gooey insight for tonight. I just wanted to share one of my more recent work outfits that I found was perfect for a beautiful summer day at the office. Although I love my bright neons and pops of color (especially for lipstick), sometimes simple summer whites and other neutrals are the way to go.
